With the aim of improving the judicial investigation system, we identified new information related to the use of forensic DNA, seeking to cooperate with Latin American governments based on evidence and impartiality.
Kevin Mills, GTH-DNA’s Director for Latin America, makes the second visit to Peru, in search of the contractual agreement to advance the bill. The meetings with Peruvian authorities and institutions are moving forward to make this tool a reality and help in the fight against crime and delinquency.
GTH-DNA’s Director for Latin America, Kevin Mills, was in the Republic of Ecuador from February 6 to 8, during this visit he met with the partner institutions of the project “Forensic Justice: DNA Latin America” to agree on the priorities for collaboration in 2024 and to understand the latest political, judicial and social developments in this country.

After almost a year of debate in the National Congress of Honduras that began in October 2022, the Law was finally approved on August 9, 2023.
The objective of the event was to open a public debate on the bill on criminal DNA databases prepared by the province of Santa Fe, and to emphasize the importance of this regulatory framework to achieve greater clarification of crimes and reduction of impunity and recidivism.

This bill seeks to increase successful criminal prosecution, reduce impunity and criminal recidivism, which are fundamental issues for achieving total peace and justice that victims demand.

Bill of November 8, 2012: Download. The legislative proposal to create a DNA database in Bolivia began with the bill called the «Boliviano» Criminal Identification System (SIBIC), with the aim of applying biometric authentication and information technologies to register and determine the identity of criminals. This proposal was presented in the 2015-2016 legislature with number 0682015-16 and in the 2016-2017 legislature with number 028/201617.
