With the participation of 59 senators and a vote of 58 in favor, the Senate plenary approved in second debate the “Sofia Law” bill, which seeks to strengthen the National Bank of Genetic Profiles for judicial investigation purposes in criminal matters.
This progress represents a significant step towards strengthening the country’s judicial entities. Senator Humberto de la Calle Lombana’s clear and precise presentation, in which he detailed the benefits and scope of the bill, was key to broadening the understanding of the members of the Senate and securing their support.
With this approval, the initiative continues its legislative process in the House of Representatives, where it will be submitted for consideration by the House of Representatives.
